RMO Wellbeing
Working in healthcare can be extremely rewarding however, staff, including Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) can be exposed to challenging and demanding situations. This page aims to provide guidance to support you to take care of your health and wellbeing.
Below are the links to a number of valuable resources that are available to support your own wellbeing as well as that of your friends, family or colleagues who may require support. Individual districts may also have further resources available to you.
STONZ x Unyoked
With time in nature known to benefit overall wellbeing and reduce stress and burnout, STONZ has partnered with Unyoked to provide our members with discounted access to nature stays around NZ. Currently Unyoked only has cabins in the North Island, but they are working towards some South Island cabins soon. Raise employee assistance programme
Raise employee assistance programme provides a confidential counselling service for personal or work issues that may affect any area of your life or wellbeing. All Te Whatu Ora employees have access to a minimum of 3 sessions with Raise employee assistance programme per annum.
If you require additional raise sessions OR if you require further support in addition to the services offered by Raise, you should contact the Manager for your department or the RMO Unit Manager who will work with you confidentially to look at options for support.

Financial Stress:
RMOs are also encouraged to speak with their regular GP and reminded that there are emergency psychiatry services available if required.
